Aum Enggiserve & Pharmachem Ltd. is a manufacturing product of specialty chemical catalyst called Raney type Nickel catalyst. This catalyst ia used for hydrogenation or reduction reactions or dehalogenation reaction carried out in various organic chemicals in the chemical industry.
In 1924 Raney evolved a new method of preparation of metallic catalyst. He introduced highly active metal sludge. The process involved removal of catalytic inactive metal from an alloy of active & inactive metals, by means of specific dissolving methods. The active metal obtained by this method has large surface Skelton structure. Alloys of Nickel, cobalt, copper, when fused with Aluminum as inactive components are used in the manufacturing of catalyst. Such types of catalyst are generally named as "Raney type. catalyst," These type of catalyst have gained tremendous importance in chemical technologies.
Particularly Raney type Nickel Catalyst have their own place in chemical technology mainly for following factors.
They have replaced the precious metal catalyst in many hydrogenation processes giving equally good activity.
Good yields are achieved at room temperature and after short reaction times.
